Landscape Contractor course specs A landscape contractor constructs, maintains, repairs, installs, or subcontracts the development of landscape systems and facilities for public and private gardens and other areas which are designed to aesthetically, architecturally, horticulturally, or functionally improve the grounds within or surrounding a structure or a tract or plot of land. In connection therewith, a landscape contractor prepares and grades plots and areas of land for the installation of any architectural, horticultural and decorative treatment or arrangement. Safety (12%) Site, Equipment, and Gear Excavating Electrical *Percentages are approximate* With more than 280,000 active California contractor license issued, the California Contractors State License Board receives more than 20,000 applications for new licenses each year. Construction is one of the largest industries in California's diverse economy. Besides granting landscape contractor licenses, the California Contractors State License Board also handles construction-related complaints.
